Japanese high school hopes for return of tsunami boat washed ashore in California - The Japan Daily Press
Japanese high school hopes for return of tsunami boat washed ashore in California - The Japan Daily Press: The coastal town seems to be in “a giddy state of shock” when they recognized from pictures posted on the Crescent City Facebook pages that the goose barnacle-covered boat is from Tanaka High School’s marine sciences program. Humboldt State University geologist Lori Dengler posted the pictures after she had a university librarian translate the Japanese characters into English. The characters read Tanaka High School and Dengler also recognized the characters for Rikuzentakata, which she visited in the aftermath of the 2011 disasters. If the findings are correct, this will be the first confirmed tsunami debris that washed up on California shores.
