U.S. and U.K. Aid Groups Report Rapid Typhoon Haiyan Giving - Philanthropy Today - The Chronicle of Philanthropy- Connecting the nonprofit world with news, jobs, and ideas: Individual Americans gave more than $33-million for relief work in the Philippines in the week after the island nation was struck by Typhoon Haiyan, CNN Money says.
The American Red Cross said it had collected $11-million from U.S. donors as of Thursday morning, and the figure was expected to climb once contributions made via Facebook and iTunes were factored in. Unicef had taken in $4.7-million by Thursday, and World Vision said its tally at the end of Friday was $6-million.
