Suddenly, services were needed for thousands of people who were homeless and living in Tarrant County.'Right when the hurricane hit, we knew that our campaign would be impacted,' said Tim Carter, the local United Way's chief executive officer.Fearing donor fatigue, the United Way decided to set its 2005 goal at $24.4 million, about $200,000 less than originally planned."
