Blake Shelton’s benefit concert for Oklahoma: Good intentions, but who gets the donations?: oble intentions all around (except for scalpers reselling the $25 tickets). But it remains to be seen if “Healing in the Heartland: Relief Benefit Concert” will actually help victims — or join the ranks of hastily-conceived attempts at humanitarian relief.

“There’s an awful lot of emotional giving that happens after a disaster,” said Heather Joslyn, an editor at the Chronicle of Philanthropy. “Sometimes that can be a recipe for wasteful spending.”

Red Cross Fund For Sandy Aid Largely Still Unspent

Red Cross Fund For Sandy Aid Largely Still Unspent: — Seven months after Superstorm Sandy, the Red Cross still hasn't spent more than a third of the $303 million it raised to assist victims of the storm, a strategy the organization says will help address needs that weren't immediately apparent in the disaster's wake.
