Va establishes permanent disaster relief fund, made of state, private and corporate donations - The Washington Post: Gov. Bob McDonnell said Wednesday that the Virginia Disaster Relief Fund will be made a permanent part of the state’s disaster relief tools. Officials say it will serve as a “fund of last resort” if other state, federal and private aid is unavailable.

RICHMOND - Governor Bob McDonnell today announced that $600,000 in anticipated state agency savings will go toward helping Virginians who were affected by severe weather and tornadoes that struck the Commonwealth in April. The money is the latest addition to a fund the governor recently established to collect donations from companies, non-profit organizations, volunteer organizations, faith-based groups, and residents."
