Chet Culver tapped Barry Griswell, chairman of Principal Financial Group, and Fred Hubbell, former head of the Equitable of Iowa Cos., to lead the effort, which will target businesses and other potential major donors.
The Register is partnering with the collaborative by launching a special edition of Embrace Iowa, its 23-year-old holiday giving program, to encourage individual donations and publicize the project.
The collaborative's leaders emphasize they do not wish to discourage local giving in hard-hit areas."
