Coast hooks up with Jerry's telethon - Health & Fitness - SunHerald.com: "For 15 years WLOX-13 has broadcast the international MDA Labor Day Telethon, adding a local touch with its own on-air personalities and interviews with regional families affected by muscular dystrophy. One other TV station in Mississippi, Fox affiliate WUFX in Jackson, broadcasts the telethon, but the coastal region brings in the most donations.
The first year after Hurricane Katrina the fundraising was put on hold because it was to be a week after the storm, and in 2007 a lower gaol was set by the Muscular Dystrophy Association of Mississippi and WLOX. They were surprised at the response and last year's record-breaking contributions."
