Canada falls short on aid to Burma

Canada falls short on aid to Burma: "The 2004 Boxing Day tsunami triggered a tidal wave of public support that pressured the Canadian government into rapidly escalating its matching-donation aid until it totalled an unprecedented $425-million. The Nargis cyclone that devastated Burma a dozen days ago has produced a relative trickle of public donations, allowing the federal government to cap its support at a modest $2-million, or roughly a loonie for every destroyed home"
