Emotions high among Bay State kin | Boston Herald: A Bay State disaster relief expert left last night for his native Philippines to aid survivors of one of the strongest storms ever to make landfall, while other local Filipinos searched for ways to help from afar as the death toll mounted.

Luis Matnog, disaster program manager at the American Red Cross of Eastern Massachusetts, will spend the next month as part of a relief team assessing the needs of people in the wake of Typhoon Haiyan.
